What's Happening?
We have 2 greenhouses cooking away, and thousands of tiny plants making their way into the world. It might be a little further along if winter hadn't been so determined to hang on! We had snow just a few days ago, and it's May already! Yuck. But the worst is over now, and we're getting sun-tans inside the greenhouses now, a lovely reminder of what summer is like...I think we'd forgotten a little!
In Other News.
We belong to a group of like-minded growers and other folks who are trying to improve the local food system here in our area. We are called Mountain View Natural Growers, and the group will be meeting again on May 9th to talk about our goals and building local relationships. Here at Sundance Fields, we're excited to be a part of this group because we'll be able to collectively market our goods, and we can network with other farms to learn from them the things that they've had to learn the hard way. Look for us this summer at the Olds, Bearspaw, and Northern Hills Farmers Markets and possibly one more.
As a member of the "Sundance fields" farm family, I just want to say that we are looking forward to the 2011 growing season. We know how much fresh, wholesome food means to people and are thrilled to be able to produce and make available to others, what we already enjoy on our farm - honest-to-goodness farm fresh garden veggies. Just watching the seeds sprout and push out of the soil the other day awakened a new rush of enthusiasm for this summer. I can hardly wait! Snow be gone; sun come out to play and we will be outside before we know it.
